As the summer winds down and the back-to-school season approaches, it’s time to start thinking about school supplies. At The Tree House Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery County, we are dedicated to ensuring that every child has the tools they need to succeed in school. This year, we are seeking donations of specific school supplies to help make this possible. Your support can make a significant difference in the lives of children in our community.
Essential Supplies Needed
We have identified a few key items that are in high demand. These supplies are crucial for students to be prepared and organized for the upcoming school year:
- Filler Paper (College Rule and Wide Rule): Both college-ruled and wide-ruled filler paper are essential for note-taking, assignments, and various classroom activities. Keeping a good supply of paper ensures that students are always ready to jot down important information and complete their work efficiently.
- Pencils (Regular and Mechanical): Pencils are a fundamental school supply. We need both regular and mechanical pencils to cater to the different preferences and needs of students. Regular pencils are great for young children and art projects, while mechanical pencils are preferred by older students for their convenience and precision.
- Pocket Folders (Plastic): Plastic pocket folders are durable and help students keep their assignments and notes organized. They are essential for managing handouts, homework, and important papers. By providing these folders, we can help students stay on top of their schoolwork and develop good organizational habits.
- Spiral Notebooks (2 Subjects and Bigger Preferred): Spiral notebooks are a staple in any student’s backpack. We are especially in need of 2-subject and larger notebooks, as they provide ample space for notes, homework, and projects across multiple subjects. However, any size notebook donation is welcome and appreciated.

- Preparedness: By providing essential school supplies, you ensure that students are ready to learn from day one. Being equipped with the right materials helps boost their confidence and enthusiasm for learning.
- Equity: Not all families can afford the necessary school supplies. Your donations help bridge this gap, ensuring that every child has the same opportunities to succeed academically.
- Support for Families: Back-to-school season can be financially stressful for many families. By donating supplies, you alleviate some of this burden and show support for the parents and guardians working hard to provide for their children.
- Community Involvement: When you contribute to our school supply drive, you become a part of a larger effort to uplift and support the children in our community. Your involvement sends a powerful message of care and solidarity.
