Your support as an attendee, sponsor, or donor helps ensure The Tree House can continue providing free, comprehensive services to the hundreds of young survivors who depend on us each year — including forensic interviews, medical exams, therapy, and family advocacy, all at no cost to families.

This Year’s Honorees

This year, we are proud to recognize champions across three categories: Individual Hero, Corporate Hero, and Community Hero.

Individual Hero: Jill Lyons & Club Helping Neighbors In Need

For over five years, Jill Lyons has been a steadfast friend to The Tree House, and has brought her community along with her. Jill’s connection to our work began through a close relationship with a child who visited us, and that experience opened the door to a deeply meaningful partnership. Jill and the members of the Leisure World clubs she introduced to us, including Helping Neighbors In Need, ACTS, Sew for Kids, and others, have turned their time and energy into steady support for the families we serve.

This year, The Tree House is proud to recognize Jill Lyons as our 2026 Individual Hero, honoring her — and the entire Club Helping Neighbors In Need — for their ongoing commitment to helping the next generation heal.

Corporate Hero: Johns Hopkins Health Plans

As a leading institution in pediatric medicine and child health research, Johns Hopkins has demonstrated a deep commitment to the wellbeing of vulnerable survivors who visit The Tree House every day.

When an urgent need put our young clients at risk, Johns Hopkins Health Plans stepped in with critical support at a crucial moment — helping ensure children could get the care they needed without delay. The Tree House is honored to recognize Johns Hopkins Health Plans as our 2026 Corporate Hero.

Community Hero: Lisa Merkin, Administrator, Montgomery County Child Welfare Services

Lisa Merkin has served as Administrator of Child Welfare Services for Montgomery County for years, building collaborative partnerships between government, law enforcement, and community-based organizations. During the pandemic — one of the most challenging periods in the county’s history for child protection — Ms. Merkin played an instrumental role in guiding both the coordination of investigations and the continuity of services for vulnerable families.

Her steady leadership and sustained commitment to the children of Montgomery County exemplify the community-centered spirit this award was created to honor, and The Tree House is delighted to celebrate her as our 2026 Community Hero.
