Tree House Statement on the Ulvalde Mass Shooting
With unimaginable sadness, the Tree House Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery County, MD, joins the community of Uvalde, Texas, and rest of the nation in grief over the senseless violence that took place at Robb Elementary School last week. Our hearts are with the families and loved ones of the 19 children and two teachers whose lives were taken much too soon.
For many of the children we serve, schools are a place of safety and stability in an otherwise turbulent world. We need our schools to continue to be safe havens for our children to grow and thrive. The Tree House joins millions of Americans across this country in calling for strong measures to better protect our children, our teachers and our communities from this epidemic of violence.
We look forward to that day when mass shootings in our schools and other places around our country are things of the past. Until that day, the Tree House will continue to offer what support we can to students, their families and all of the victims of these senseless shootings.
